Daniel,
So smooth with a hint of a bite at the end. Warm throughout. Almost like a great dessert wine, complex and delicious!
Kenneth,
This is like a dessert, full of flavor and warming!
- [Batch 67]
- Nose: Sherry, caramel, butterscotch, oranges
- Palate: Sherry, oak, medicinal, leaves, dried fruits, some bitterness
- Finish: Peppery, warm, thick and a bit creamy"
Didier,
I love this little burn after taste
Michael,
Smooth finish no after burn
guest,
One of the best. Must have oh the shelf. Complex from nose to finish
Russ,
Hi alcohol content. Smooth. Like the port finish.
Leif,
Wow this is bitter. Yuck. I'll stick to my 12 year Aberlour which is much smoother, my my Glenlivet which is half the price.
Todd,
For a mid level scotch, this is the one. I can sip this and really enjoy the flavors.
guest,
Too strong for my taste
Tracy,
The a'bunadh is the most complex Scotch I have tasted to date. That being said I am not a fan of high proof whiskeys so I ended up buying the Abelour 12 and mixing them. My next Abelour will be the 16 and if it is half as good as the a'bunadh then it will be a bar staple for me.
Didier,
Just top notch, the taste, the smell just amazing!
Dax,
This is my go to on poker night, everybody loves it. Not only that, with the high proof, you get more for your money. It's dangerously smooth, so don't go overboard.
Derek,
It was the 64 batch, one of my favorites
Nicholas,
Sherry, buttery, fruity. Took it down to about 45 or so with water, delicious and perfect for the holidays.
guest,
Absolute brilliance
David,
Got the bottle of 18year old and it didn't disappoint. Mellow, sweet, long-lasting finish, and a nice compliment to my other long-time fave: The Macallan. I'll absolutely get more of this find.
Alexander,
Unglaublich ausgewogener Whiskey, schöner runder Geschmack, aber das Sherry Aroma aufgepeppt mit ein bisschen Würze, toll
Connor,
Very unique whiskey. High proof with a perfect balance of sherry and spice.
Connor,
Very unique whiskey. High proof with a perfect balance of sherry and spice.
guest,
Smooth. Amazing taste for such a POWER.
Fernando,
Worth every penny. Flavor spiral gets this one spot on
Lynn,
I haven’t tried it yet...I meant to order the 12 yr.
guest,
best value
Mary,
Absolutely love it. So special we've set it aside as a "holiday" drink. As smooth as it gets!
Aaron,
Was excited to try this due to hearing so much about it. Gigantic amount of fruit and spice on the nose - plus a little cake, pineapple, and candied orange peel. A little of an off-funk type of note too. HUGE mouthfeel, slick and heavy. Flavor is where it lost me though unfortunately - just fruit, fruit, fruit. And harsh alcohol burn too. Tried this 2 separate times, 2nd time added over 1/2 teaspoon of water on just one ounce hoping it would calm it down a bit...it didn't. Very good nose, amazing mouthfeel, but too one-dimensional and harsh of a flavor.
Eileen,
set my mouth on fire. Did not love
Daniel,
Smooth, cask-strength but cannot tell
Matthew,
Fantastic & complex
Orlando,
Freaking awesome. Sherry upfront with lots of fruit. Really boozy. It's the scotch version of fruit punch. Love it.
Ewan,
One of my favourite drams. If you like sherry cask you will love this. :-)
Nicholas,
Just took my first sip, and that was fun! The sherry is strong and sweet and there’s a nice little kick at the end.
Scott,
One of my favorites. Great cask strength. Not overpowering.
Matthew,
Wow this is amazing stuff. My bottle is 119 proof, but it is so smooth. Great sherry. Caramel, oak and sweet tasting notes. Little burn In The throat but at this ABV I have had it worse from a lot less. This nose for me is all sherry, which is exactly the way I like. This is now one of my favorites without question.
Joseph,
i just love this scotch. it is smooth and has a sweet bit of flavour from the sherry cask.
Bob,
Sweet hits you first with a hint of cherry
Christopher,
Best cask strength single malt scotch I’ve ever sipped. Caramel and the sherry notes hit your taste buds first, you don’t even think you’re drinking a scotch for a split second. Taste profile turns to oak, cherry and spice on the finish.
Nick,
my second favorite scotch. Nice full body. Very petty. Slightly sweet finish.
Gregg,
Which is your first, out of curiosity, for comparison?
James,
Upon arrival this dram punches you in the face. It immediately warms you up. This is a perfect winters night by the fire drink. I enjoyed this the second time more then the first. I let it sit for 20 min the second time and added a good amount of water to tame the heat and upon up the sherry, Carmel and chocolate notes. It really is a supreme dram.
Joel,
Batch 64
David,
Loads of sherry and oak in this one. I can taste the barrel it was aged in! Carmel, cinnamon, and cocoa. Not my favorite but very enjoyable. A cube of ice really settles the heat. Dryness is part of the long finish.
REUBEN,
It's a hot one, a little on the spicy side. At least more than I like. My initial thought on it though would be that it needs a little more age to it.
Marcus,
smooth, no initial bite, Carmel smell full of flavor
Patrick,
Smooth burn for such a hot whiskey, very drinkable and pleasant notes. Lots of flavor and a clean finish.
Ken,
Love this. Got it at duty free in London with the help of the staff. It is a smooth and not overpowering whiskey.
guest,
I thought this was quite hot and spicy. I am new to whiskey but I liked it once it cooled down
Thomas,
Love the burst of flavor at first taste and the burn is tolerable. A good dram for when you don't want to feel feelings for a while.
Ivan,
Very very hot. it's sweet, sherried, with notes of raisins, cinnamon and chocolate. Unfortunately it's a bit too spicy.
brad,
Heavy sherry and caramel notes. Pretty strong oak also. Those and barrel spice are what I mainly pick up on this one. There is some burn, but also a ton of flavor. Excellent scotch and not like anything else I’ve had in my 2 years or so in the scotch realm. Definitely in my top 3.
Brendan,
Thought I’d like this more. I love sherried scotch and high ABV, but for some reason the two don’t play well together here.
Troy,
A little sweet maple on the nose with a touch of spice. A good silky feel on the tongue. A hint of sweetness giving way to robust barley with a nice deep slow burn and clean finish. The cask strength but cuts the sweetness perfectly. No peat or smoke present and that suits me just fine.
Ben,
Wonderful whisky. Notes of dark chocolate and butterscotch, fruity and sherry forward. Drinkable neat, even at the high abv, but really opens up with a little dilution.
Daniel,
There are some very interesting flavors under all that burn. This one is not to be trifled with.
Mark,
Just spectacular. The first sip brings the heat, and then the reward is rich and spicy and fantastic. Classic sherry cask scotch, but warmer and richer than most. Dark fruit, citrus, sherry, chocolate... also some bourbon character of butterscotch and baking spice. So much going on and all of it good.
ross,
Rich, spice, awesome
Santiago,
Spectacular! It is a long time since a scotch has left me with such a lasting impression. The flavour is full and deliberate with hints of dark chocolate and port. This is character.
Kurt,
Superb. Tremendous depth of flavor and lasting finish with hints of tobacco.
John,
Smooth and beautiful. One of the best scotches I have had in a long time.
Kestrel,
Just an excellent NAS. Warm and sweet, but not unbearably so. Packs a punch, so letting a cube melt down a bit, was where I found this dram to be best.
Anders,
I’m not a sherry pig, but this one is wonderfully complex. Warm. Sweet licorice and fruits both on the nose and the tongue. Needs a few drops of water in my opinion, but then really shines. A great dram
Eric,
Of the big sherried whiskies, Aberlour is not my favorite, as it's the lightest and gentlest of them all (Bunnahabhain, Glenfarclas, etc.) But the cask strength A'bunadh stands out - definitely more complex and unique. Good stuff.
Gary,
Being relatively new to appreciating the world of Scotch, Whiskey and Bourbon Ive not quite found "my taste" yet but I know what I like and this is easily obe of my favorites thus far.
Seth,
What a great whiskey! It’s hot so water is a must and just a few drops really opens it up. Beautifully complex with the sherry forward notes. A truly great dram
Derryck,
This is a potent and smooth cask strength with a rich, lingering finish. My preference is to add about a teaspoon of water to the Dram.
Derryck,
Found it to be a bit smoother after adding about a teaspoon of water to the dram. Full of potent flavor with a very warm, lingering finish.
Kevin,
Heavier and sweeter than most highland single malts
Very smooth
Christopher,
Add a little water and enjoy! A little heavy on the alcohol content but settles down quite nicely after a couple of sips. A must have.
Yosef,
Great crossover for scotch and bourbon lovers this is a powerful and tasty treat
Nicholas,
Talk about a good dram, at CS, sipping neat is tough, but some water/ice work wonders
guest,
I’m new in my Whisky journey, but this is my first purchase. It’s my favorite on all the ones I’ve tried.
Joseph,
The bottle I have is very high proof, but letting it sit out and adding a bit of water makes it my favorite sherry aged scotches.
Timothy,
Great!
Michael,
very robust and strong. I prefer something else
Antione,
My friend swears by it, but this one is a little heavy for me. They are not kidding when they say cask strength.
Robert,
Too strong for my taste
Matt,
Heavy sherry influence and the alcohol feel is very forward. Mood related drink for me and not a regular sipping scotch but very good for price.
Charles,
Great sherry bomb, always enjoy in. Will most definitely replace in time. Although I have noticed that prices have become very steep now.
Ryan,
This has been a favorite to just sit back at the end of the day and sip on.
Michael,
This is a special whisky among many a good whisky!
Dale/Retha,
Fabulous all round. Never tasted better.
Dale/Retha,
Loved this. So smooth...great flavor.
Bryan,
All kinds of cherry and spice. Delicious!
David,
Smooth, warm caramel taste with a excellent kick to finish. Perfect!
Albert,
This is a fabulous scotch. Spicy on the nose. Starts sweet and finishes with a bang! This will become my daily driver for sure.
Joshua,
Absolutley delicious
Daniel,
Great sherry bomb.. Awesome flavor at full strentgh.
Joshua,
Tons of flavor throughout the whole tasting experience, not too peaty not to mild, just perfect
Jon,
Tasty! Interesting that I like the cask amagn better but this one is a keeper!
Rick,
Though I am new at this ... my first impression of this whiskey was it had a very pleasant smell and was smooth on the tongue, the flavor rich and sweet. The finish was warm and lasting and had a great flavor.
Alex,
Tasted like a higher proof Dalmore 12 to me (Not a bad thing at all). I'll come back to it in a year or so to see if I get more out of it.
Susan,
Rich, smooth, sweet. Burns a bit more than I like, but a little ice tames the fire and opens up the flavors. Non-chill filtration gives this scotch a slight viscosity, which, combined with its rich, deep sweetness, creates an almost syrupy drink. My new favorite.
Jeremy,
Very smooth and tasty scotch. Becoming one of my favorites.
Stephen,
A little more alcohol burn but such intense flavors! A drop or two of water smoothes it out a little.
Phillip,
I think I'm in love with this whisky. Warm spiced fruit and sherry aroma; the first sip was "woah!" then "WOW" as the tingling worked its way throughout my mouth and just kept going. The second sip was like a luxurious glass of wine hitting the tongue, then it magically turned into hot sherry. Finished with a satisfying, lingering warm. I haven't even tried it with water yet, such a pleasure to drink.
Todd,
I found this to be modest in flavor. A little water helps.
Michael,
Cherry, sherry, and fruit perfection. It's like liquid dessert. This is one of my all-time favorite scotches, hands down.
John,
Great scotch good flavor with notes of caramel.
Brian,
A great scotch, extremely complex. Very fruity on the nose. Starting on the palette you feel like you're drinking brandy, with heavy grape and fruity notes. The transition to more traditional scotch notes follow, with a finish of cinnamon, caramel, and fruit cake.
Ryan,
Wonderful sherried scotch from perhaps my favorite Scotish distillery
Michael,
Now this is the bomb! Super impressed by the nose: caramel, vanilla and a hint of turpentine (just kidding, but it does have a wisp of strength to it.) Superb dram!
Jeremy,
Really smooth, very tasty, accessible even to non-scotch drinkers. Would definitely buy again.
PHILIP,
My favorite scotch
Jared,
My favorite scotch to drink Smooth and has a wonderful full flavor to it
guest,
Отлично.
Danny,
Fabulous and everything I expected in a quality scotch. The finish is very satisfying for the ABV and the smoothness is the best feature. This will be hard not to make my go to.
Theo,
Fabulous...!
Ben,
Thoroughly enjoy this wonderful scotch!!! Very appealing to the nose and palate!
Kellen,
My favorite spirit period.
Joshua,
For 60%ABV , this is very smooth. Honey flavor right off the sip, long sweetness lingers, touch of smoke.
Doug,
Rocket fuel! Good with a bit of water or an ice cube to tone it down a bit. Nice spice. The lingering flavor for me is the oak and it feels a bit dry on the tail end.
Ryan,
Hands down the best whisky/whiskey I've tried to date (granted, I've only about 3 years of experience). I wish I could find this one more often locally. If I could only pick one whiskey to take with me on a deserted island, this is it. The richness from the cask strength gives this Highland a lot of notes you'd typically get in a solid bourbon. Excellent.
Rory,
My favorite.
Ro,
Arguably my favorite scotch. Really hits all of the high points that I enjoy.
Jesse,
Very alcoholie! Whew das some strong stuff
Brian,
Sherry & spice & everything nice.
Nicholas,
Each batch seems ever so slightly different, but the high proof sherry cask finished flavors are lovely. There's a bit of a kick due to the high ABV.
Johan,
Very complex flavors especially for its price.
Michael,
All of the Aberlour scotches are fabulous. This is the best of the family!!
guest,
Not bad, very intense. Very big alcohol
Will,
Perfect
William,
Reviews are tempting me to request availability and price.
Robbie,
First Scotch I recommend.
guest,
Fantastic
Corey,
Excellent
guest,
What a great dram
guest,
Great taste. A little darker than I typically like.
guest,
60.1 wow need more
Brandon,
Fantastic sherry bomb.
Michael,
This scotch is hands down "my drink". Have I had "better/more expensive" scotch? Sure, but Aberlour for me is everything I ever wanted in a drink, and definitely the brand I would choose if I could only choose one.
