Top reviews for Aberlour Abunadh Alba:

— Pretty good, the peppery/fruity bites were prominent for me, would buy again

— Truly exceptional cask strength malt. I got a bottle of batch 64. At just under 120 proof it is surprising smooth. A little water opens it up to a beautifully drinkable dram. The sherry really comes through but well balanced with the oak and dark fruit and chocolate notes

— Normally I am a bourbon drinker but I was looking to expand my horizon and try a good scotch. This had a lot of layers to it and a good mouth feel but was too too much oak flavor for me. Since the Alba is oak barrel aged this should be expected, I think I would try the regular Abunadh next since it is port barrel aged. Everything else was just right. Batch #1, at 128 proof.

Richard,
Sounds lovely. FYI, all whisky is aged in oak barrels, as is bourbon. Port barrels are also made from oak. The regular Abunadh is aged in sherry casks (also oak). Cheers!
