— Oily, smoky, northern forests, a delicious burn--all of these meant in the best way possible. It was a very physical taste and I loved it. I am an Islay/peaty fan and this was absolutely an enjoyable experience for me that I would recommend.

James
James,
Very smoky/peaty. I enjoy Islay single malts quite a bit, and this one decidedly so, but I felt like the peat kind of overpowered anything else. It did mellow with a bit of distilled water. Next time, I may add a couple drops of Kentucky limestone water, see if that brings out any flavors differently.

Daniel,
With so many excellent Islay single malts, it is a tough row to hoe. I just bought Ardbeg's An Oa and it is so much more interesting than this offering.

Daniel
Daniel,
It was okay. Not great, but certainly not bad. More subtle than a Laphroaig, but still peaty. I expected a little more of the scotch burn in the bak of my throat, which it did not produce. Again, very drinkable but nothing that rocked my world.

Michael
Michael,
Solid scotch. It was my first adventure with one of the more peaty/smoky scotch's out there and initially found it overpowering given the overwhelming peat flavor. However, after throwing in an ice sphere and giving it another shot it actually grew on me. For those who like the peaty/smoky scotch's coming out of Islay this has a nice full flavor. I did find myself enjoying it after a little dilution from the ice and think that it would be a perfect sipper on a brisk fall day/evening given it's smoky finish.
