A special edition of this World Whisky of the Year bottled just for Flaviar… and worth every drop.

The Barton 1792 Distillery has been in operation since 1874. It gets the name "1792" from the year that Kentucky became an official state in the US, and it’s also the name of one of the their signature single barrel Bourbon Whiskies. The Barton 1792 Distillery and Barton Brands are owned by Sazerac — one of America’s largest Spirits companies. They control dozens of brands from low end to high end — mostly American Whiskies and Bourbons — that are distributed around the world. The 1792 line of products are all premium, high-end Bourbons that should be in the regular rotation of your home bar.

We have been trumpeting the praise of Sazerac Whiskies this year. They are taking all the prizes with one of their best lineups yet. We’ve been working with them for years and when we had the opportunity to partner with them for a special Flaviar bottling of their Barton 1792 Full Proof, we jumped at the opportunity.

This special bottling is the same Barton 1892 Full Proof that was declared "World Whisky of the Year" with 97.5 points. It’s been bottled at 62.5% ABV with the most minimal of filtering, but this dram is so darned smooth it feels like velvet with nothing but a single cocktail cube in the glass. It’s like drinking flavored gemstones.

Tasting Notes

Appearance / Color
Hot Copper

Nose / Aroma / Smell
The aromas waft like a perfume with rich notes of vanilla cream and caramel sauce with a bit of mint.

Flavor / Taste / Palate
The palate is very rich, deep, and balanced with a nice dose of smoked oak, cinnamon toast, chewy caramel, clove, and an almost banana-like essence.

The finish is smooth and satisfying.
Ratings & Reviews
I feel like this happens to award winners that clueless does like me don't get the fuss. I usually like high proof whiskey but the kick here is serious burn. I just get that spiced taste and no other notes. I just wasn't wild about it.
loved the flavor profile... took some getting used to the burn but sooo worth it!
While I do like the Full Proof more than the others, this is an incredible markup. I think the last store pick i got i paid $45/50 for. I would go to $60 on these as it is barrel proof but $80 is just crazy.
Love the $30 mark up for the barrel pick. Why stop there? Why not double the price while you're at it...
