All about Old Weller Antique

There are three trim levels for the Weller line of Bourbons from Buffalo Trace. There is Old Weller Antique, W. L. Weller 12 year, and W. L. Weller Special Reserve.

The bottles are identical in shape with similar labeling and naming, so they are often confused. Old Weller Antique is the higher end of the three. The main reason is the higher ABV — it is a full 107 proof (53.5% ABV) which is nearly cask strength.

It has a good mouth feel, and a big dose of caramel and oak on the nose. These notes are repeated on the palate with plum and a dash of fig. That high ABV shines up a decent amount of heat too.
